Excellence of giving up Elegant Clothes for Humility

Mu`adh bin Anas (Radhiallaho anhu) reported:

Messenger of Allah (Sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said,

"Whoever gives up wearing elegant and expensive garments out of humbleness, when he can do so, Allah will call him on the Day of Resurrection and before all the creations, He will give him the choice to wear whichever garment of Iman he would like to wear.''

[At-Tirmidhi]

Commentary:
To adopt humility and not to assert superiority over others, according to this Hadith, is an excellent act with Allah. `The clothes of Iman' imply those special clothings of Jannah that Allah has prepared for sincere believers only.

Islam is built on five pillars

Ibn `Umar (Radhiallahu anhu) reported:

The Messenger of Allah (Sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said,

"(The structure of) Islam is built on five (pillars) :

1) Testification of `La ilaha illallah' (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah), that Muhammad (Sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) is his slave and Messenger.
2) The establishment of Salat
3) The payment of Zakat
4) The pilgrimage to the House of Allah (Ka`bah)
5) Saum during the month of Ramadan.''

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Commentary:
Every Muslim who has fifty-two and a half Tola (a Tola is about 12 grams) silver or cash equivalent to it in excess of his need, and a year has passed since its possession is liable to pay it. One who has seven and a half Tola or more gold also comes in this category. It should be evaluated in terms of money and Zakat at the rate of 2.5% to be paid on it.

What is Hadith

Hadith (pl. Ahadith) is a body of laws, the tradition or collection of traditions attributed to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) that include his sayings, acts, and approval or disapproval of things. Hadith for Muslims is a major source of religious law, moral guidance and inspirations from the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

A hadith of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

Abu Huraira (Radhi-Allahu 'anhu) reported:

Allah's Messenger (salAllahu alayhi wa sallam) as saying:

He who called (people) to righteousness, there would be reward (assured) for him like the rewards of those who adhered to it, without their rewards being diminished in any respect. And he who called (people) to error, he shall have to carry (the burden) of its sin, like those who committed it, without their sins being diminished in any respect.

Give up what is doubtful to you

Hasan bin `Ali (RadhiAllahu anhu) said:

I remember (these words) from Messenger of Allah (Sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam): "

"Give up what is doubtful to you for that which is not doubtful; for truth is peace of mind and falsehood is doubt".

[At-Tirmidhi]

Commentary:
This Hadith leads us to the conclusion that one must always avoid doubtful things so that he does not do anything unlawful.
