Pilgrimage to Makkah ( Hajj ) is a pillar of Islam

Ibn `Umar (RadhiAllahu anhu) reported:

The Messenger of Allah (Sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said,

"(The superstructure of) Islam is based on five (pillars),

1. Testifying the fact that La ilaha illallah wa anna Muhammad-ar-Rasul-ullah [there is no true God except Allah, and Muhammad (Sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) is the Messenger of Allah],

2. Establishing As-Salat (the prayers),

3. Paying Zakat (poor due),

4. The pilgrimage to the House [of Allah (Ka`bah)], and

5. The Saum (fasting) during the month of Ramadan.''

Recite Surat Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq and An-Nas three times at dawn & dusk

`Abdullah bin Khubaib (RadhiAllahu anhu) reported:

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me,

"Recite Surat Al-Ikhlas and Al-Mu`awwidhatain (Surat Al-Falaq and Surat An-Nas)
three times at dawn and dusk. It will suffice you in all respects.''

[Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi]


Commentary:
"Recite Surat Al-Ikhlas and Al-Mu`awwidhatain (Surat Al-Falaq and Surat An-Nas) three times at dawn and dusk. It will suffice you in all respects'' means that then one would not need any other recitation for the remembrance of Allah. Moreover, by virtue of these three Surah, Allah will protect the reciter from every dangerous thing. In other Ahadith, it is stated that after lying in the bed, the Prophet (Sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) used to recite these Surah, then blow on his hands and rub them over his body to the extent he could.

Allah's mercy envelops them, Sakinah (tranquillity) descends upon them

Abu Hurairah and Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri (RadhiAllahu Anhuma) reported:

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said,

"When a group of people assemble for the remembrance of Allah, the angels surround them (with their wings), (Allah's) mercy envelops them, Sakinah, or tranquillity descends upon them and Allah makes a mention of them before those who are near Him.''

Commentary:
This Hadith also highlights the merits of remembrance of Allah and the high grades of the people indulging in it.
